Waikato Chinese School

     News

Our aim is to deliver a consistently high education service to students, and support children’s education within the Chinese and wider community.

 

The students who are under 6-years-old start from learning simple daily Chinese characters, and the students who are over 6-year-old learn Chinese Pinyin first.
After a period of learning, they will be taught some basic Mandarin skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

In order to extend Chinese language and culture in the District of Waikato, Waikato Chinese School
(referred to hereinafter as WCS) was established in July 2004 in the CBD of Hamilton. Legal name
of our organization is “Future Education Trust Board”.

 

  • It is the only professional Chinese language school in Hamilton, yet a non-profit corporation.
     

  • We have totally 12 experienced and professional Chinese language & culture teachers.
     

  • We are currently running Saturday project at our own school premise offering 6 subjects– Mandarin,
     

  • Chinese Martial Arts, Chinese Dancing, Chinese Art, Basketball and Math.

Mandarin Course
There are five different levels of Mandarin  courses at our school. From Beginner to Intermediate classes, teachers teach students both in English and Chinese. In Upper-Intermediate and Advanced classes, teachers teach mainly in Chinese. The textbooks are a series of books named ZHONGWEN, which is edited for those Chinese learners who are living abroad.

All classes are small and limited to 15 students maximum. Teachers organize a wide range of interesting activities for students in class. Every student’s needs are carefully considered. The students are able to gain satisfactory Mandarin learning outcomes in a friendly environment.
 
Dancing Course
Our dancing course is very popular at Waikato Chinese School. The aim of the course is to learn basic dancing skills such as flexibility, posture and dance steps. Students are able to learn basic ballet skills and dance to music every class. Teachers are professional and experienced. They relate well with students in class
 

Art & Animation Courses
There are three different levels available. The course focuses on teaching students basic drawing skills, graphic design and animation. Also in Beginners’ class, handcraft activities are held frequently to increase younger students’ interest in art. Various topics will be taught in class including drawing cartoon characters, making Easter Eggs, copying teacher’s sample pictures and Computer Animation. Also, a sketch course will be held regularly for the elementary class to improve students’ drawing skills. Interesting activities will be arranged to stimulate their enthusiasm of learning.
